When we saw the Cleveland Cavaliers trade for Donovan Mitchell yesterday, it shows how going all in can take your team to another level and while the Los Angeles Lakers have been making an effort to try to find the right trade for Russell Westbrook.
They haven’t been able to make a move so far and I feel like they definitely need a move, if they want to take that next step, when it comes to becoming Championship contenders, which ultimately should be your goal, if you have LeBron James and Anthony Davis on your roster and with teams around the league continuing to get stronger and continuing to trade future draft picks to make win now moves, I think the Lakers should do the same and try to find the right trade.
I feel like a trade like this could be great for Lakers, where they add TJ McConnell, Myles Turner, Buddy Hield and cam reddish, they will be trading away Kendrick Nunn, Russell Westbrook and two future first round picks.
So when you look at this trade the first thing, I want to talk about is TJ McConnell being included would the Indiana Pacers be willing to include TJ McConnell well if they’re not then the Lakers could probably go out and sign a guy like Dennis Schroder on a minimum contract, and he could fill the minutes that would be left empty by the departure of Russell Westbrook, then you could also start Patrick Beverley at the point guard spot have Schroeder as his backup and then you’d pretty much be good to go and then you look at trading Kendrick Nunn, if Cam reddish does go ahead and not get minutes in New York.
I feel like it could be a good idea for the Lakers, to try to swoop in and make a move to trade for him he’s still very young, he’s still on his rookie deal I feel like he could definitely be a guy worth taking a chance on and then with Myles Turner and Buddy Hield I’ve talked about him quite a bit, but they would just be ideal fits in Lakers, and next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis and if the Lakers had the opportunity to make a move like this.
I feel like they should definitely go out and do it, because it would immediately make that roster better in my opinion and give them a chance to compete for the NBA champion and ship now a trade with the Utah Jazz does also make a lot of sense, when you look at the fact that the Utah Jazz have 17 players on guaranteed deals the Lakers.
If they were to trade Russell Westbrook, they could take on three players from the Utah Jazz and while I think this trade would improve the Los Angeles Lakers roster, you do have to consider the fact that with the Myles Turner, Buddy Hield trade, both Turner and hield are younger than guys like Mike Conley and Bojan bogdanovic and also Conley’s coming off of a bit of a shaky playoffs and Jordan Clarkson has had some efficiency issues, so with those things in mind, I think that the Myles Turner and buddy Hield trade would be better for the Los Angeles Lakers, but I think that a move involving the Utah Jazz could still improve their roster significantly.
